Notre Dame Walk - on cornerback Jesse Bongiovi suffered a torn ACL and will be out of the 2014 season, according to head coach Brian Kelly.
Bongiovi is the son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi.
The news was first reported by Matt Fortuna via Twitter.
Bongiovi, a former football and lacrosse featured in Poly Prep Country Day in Brooklyn, New York, was announced as an addition to the team Fighting Irish in April 2013.
"I came here when I was in eighth grade and fell in love with the place," said the 20- year-old after his decision to attend the school. “The culture here, the people here, the opportunities here are unreal.’Re Insurmountable. Given the opportunity to walk on the team and be part of this family was an easy decision for me. "
Bon Jovi has four children, including Bongiovi, which is the second oldest, with his wife, Dorothea Hurley. The couple also has a daughter, Stephanie, and their two youngest sons, Jacob and Romeo.
